Two well-established Stoke-on-Trent architecture firms are joining forces to create a new business, with Mode Architects and Byatt Oliver merging to form Inc Architects.

The new practice brings together the expertise and values of Kim Mountford, who has been working in the industry for 13 years and running Mode Architects for eight years, and David Byatt, who has 24 years’ experience and founded Byatt Oliver 12 years ago.
Inc Architects will be based on Piccadilly in Hanley, while continuing to use the Old Chapel in Etruria for meetings and events where appropriate. The merged team will comprise seven staff, with plans to recruit an additional role in the coming months.

Kim said:
“We realised that our ethos, approach and goals were so closely aligned that we could achieve more together. We’re keeping everything that has made our practices successful – including our staff and our culture – but we’re adding even more strength and depth.”
Inc Architects will continue to serve a wide range of clients, with a particular focus on providing high-quality service and helping their customers achieve their ambitions, as well as delivering social value.
The new name was chosen to reflect a commitment to inclusivity, collaboration and making meaningful change through design.
David said:
“We want clients to see us as a valuable partner in every project, from the first idea to the final handover. We can provide solutions to problems that people don’t realise they have and help clients get the best possible outcomes.”
Kim added:
“As a team we want to do good things and change things for the better – it’s threaded through everything we do. We are passionate about social value and giving back to the community.”
The practice expects to advertise a new role in the coming months. In the meantime, anyone interested in finding out more can email info@incarchitects.co.uk.
