Ainsley Lawton is an MCIAT Chartered Architectural Technologist and Interior Architecture Specialist with over 25 years of experience in the built environment. He has a strong background in both architectural technology and interior design, enabling him to deliver comprehensive, technically robust, and aesthetically compelling solutions across a diverse range of projects.

Ainsley began his career at Forshaw Greeves and Hulme Upright, where he honed his skills in architectural technology and interior design. His work has encompassed various sectors, including residential, commercial, and heritage projects, where he has consistently demonstrated a keen understanding of building performance, materiality, and spatial quality.

One of the most significant projects in Ainsley’s career was the adaptive reuse of a historic Grade II-listed building into a vibrant co-working and cultural space. This project showcased his ability to sensitively balance heritage preservation with contemporary functionality, a hallmark of his thoughtful design approach.

Ainsley leads projects from inception through to completion, ensuring that design intent is maintained while meeting technical requirements and client expectations. His approach is collaborative and detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering high-quality, sustainable environments.

Having undertook the renovation of his own family home, a period Arts & Crafts style property, where he seamlessly blended modern functionality with the original character and craftsmanship of the building. This personal project not only deepened his appreciation for traditional design principles but also reinforced his commitment to respectful, context-driven architecture.

In addition to his profession, Ainsley is a dedicated educator, serving as a lecturer at Newcastle College. He shares his industry knowledge and passion for architectural technology with the next generation of designers and technologists, encouraging innovation grounded in real-world application.

Outside of his professional life, Ainsley enjoys sports, with a particular interest in cricket and football. He believes that the discipline and teamwork in sports echo the collaborative spirit necessary for successful architectural practice.
